Arranging care for a loved one?

If you're arranging an appointment for a family member or friend, take a look at our Home Visits page or give us a call. We'll help you decide the best way to arrange a visit.

In the meantime, please feel free to read on to get a better understanding of how we work within care homes.

Care at home.
No unneccessary travel.

For residents

Through our experience working with care homes, we understand that many residents find travelling to traditional clinic appointments difficult. That's why we created our mobile earwax removal service, bringing treatment directly to residents in the comfort and familiarity of their own care home, without the stress or practical difficulties of travelling to a clinic.

We also recognise that NHS waiting times for audiology services can be lengthy. As earwax removal is often the first step before hearing assessments, hearing aid reviews or further investigations can take place, timely treatment can be particularly important.

Troublesome earwax can affect hearing, comfort, communication, balance, hearing aid function and overall wellbeing. Early identification and treatment can help support communication, maintain hearing aid function, relieve symptoms and allow further assessment where needed.

Designed around your home

Professional care with minimal disruption.

We work closely with the care home to arrange appointments at the most appropriate time, allowing for any preparation, such as olive oil use, and liaising with relatives, GPs or other healthcare professionals where appropriate.

All treatment is delivered to the same standards you would expect in a clinical setting, while being thoughtfully adapted to the practical needs of care home life.

01.

We come prepared.

  • We bring all equipment

  • Move between residents

  • Treat in their room, bed or chair where appropriate

  • Work around your routines to help the day run smoothly.

02.

Complimentary checks.

While we're on site, we also offer

  • Complimentary, no-obligation earwax checks for residents, family members and staff.

This helps identify whether troublesome earwax may be contributing to symptoms, with no pressure to proceed with treatment.

03.

Clear next steps.

We explain findings and can advise on onward referral to a GP, audiology or ENT when appropriate.

Our experience. Your team.

Why our experience fits

Confident around complex needs.

Our ambulance backgrounds mean we are experienced in supporting vulnerable people and those living with dementia, Parkinson’s, mobility difficulties and other health conditions. We understand consent, capacity, best interests and appropriate manual handling.

What makes us so suited? Before you head to our About Us section, here’s what makes us uniquely suited to care homes and their residents. With many years of experience coming from an ambulance background, we are experienced in handling a wide range of situations. We pride ourselves on helping people feel calm and comfortable, and we’ve got lots of experience working with vulnerable people and those with different health conditions such as dementia, Parkinson’s or mobility issues. We can easily adapt our service to fit whatever the patient needs - whether they’re in bed or sitting in a chair, we’ll make sure they’re comfortable. An integral part of our role was understanding the needs of patients, particularly being able to safely and comfortably move them with appropriate manual handling techniques – we’ve done a course or two, or ten! We are fully informed and consistently mindful of consent, capacity, and ensuring that we always act in the patient’s best interests.

Staff do not need to supervise us or repeatedly bring residents to a clinic room. We work independently, while welcoming a staff chaperone whenever a resident or the home prefers one.

And for your team

We are familiar with how care homes operate, so your staff won’t need to supervise us, follow us around or go back and forth bringing patients to us as we go to them. We are used to working independently in these environments, however, if it’s your (or a resident's) preference for staff to chaperone, then that’s fine with us too! We’re not a big faceless organisation where you get different people each time. It’s just the two of us, so you’ll always get the same friendly faces and that continuity of ongoing care. We’ll get to know your staff and residents, and hopefully, you’ll invite us back so we can keep building those personal connections.
