About us
Hello. We're Donna & Gemma
The Earwax Ladies
We met while working for an NHS ambulance service as a paramedic and emergency medical technician, before Gemma moved into primary care.
We started Earwax Ladies to bring together our years of frontline healthcare experience and our shared passion for delivering high-quality care in people's own homes.
We've built our service around the values that matter most to us – taking the time to listen, treating every patient as an individual and providing care that's calm, professional and reassuring.

20+ years' combined NHS experience.
Prior to starting our business.
Always Donna & Gemma
For continuity of care.
Working in people's homes has always felt like a natural fit for us. It allows us to deliver treatment in familiar surroundings, adapt to individual needs and build the kind of rapport that's often difficult to achieve in a busy clinic environment. Whether we're visiting someone at home, supporting residents in a care home or seeing patients at one of our community pop-up clinics, our aim is always the same: to provide professional ear care that's kind, respectful and centred around the individual.
Why we began
Helping fill a gap in accessible earwax removal.
We saw firsthand how funding cuts affected services, including earwax removal. Many GP practices reduced or stopped providing it, leaving people struggling to access treatment. We created The Earwax Ladies to bring professional, carefully delivered earwax removal closer to the people who need it.
What matters to us
Time, reassurance, clear explanations, continuity of care, and treatment that adapts to the individual.
We are not a large faceless organisation - you will always see us.
Training and professional standards
Qualified for the people and the procedure
01.
Specialist earwax removal training
We have undertaken several courses, including BSA-accredited training in aural examination, otoscopy and microsuction, specialist training in microsuction, irrigation and manual instrumentation through Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, and endoscopic microsuction training (EASE) with Durham Hearing.
02.
Complex needs.
Supporting people living with dementia and other complex needs was a familiar part of our ambulance work.
Alongside Dementia Friends and Virtual Dementia Tour training, our personal experience of supporting a close family member with dementia has given us a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by both the person and those who care for them — and how small, thoughtful adjustments can make a real difference.
03.
Peace of mind.
Enhanced DBS checked and fully insured, with more than 20 years of combined NHS healthcare experience before starting The Earwax Ladies.
